Jonathan Crompton found himself buried on the Edmonton Eskimos depth chart. Officially he was the number 4 quarterback. Not much hope to find your way onto the field from there. Sure Edmonton wanted him to stay, offered him a spot on the practice roster. Crompton declined. Now he finds himself as the number one quarterback for the Montreal Alouettes facing the Edmonton Eskimos this weekend.
“They’re just another team on our schedule,” Crompton said. “I’m happy where I’m at. We’re here for a business trip. “We’re here for a reason. We have to execute our game plan. It’s not about what I’ve made. It’s not about me.”
"It's too bad to see," "I spoke with Darian yesterday and just tried to pick him up a little bit. You never want to see that happen to your friend, let alone any player in the league. I have great respect for him and Travis. I just hope they get well quickly
“Our veteran guys, Mike (Reilly) Fred (Stamps), (Brian) Ramsay, all the guys on defence, Calvin McCarty … guys that have been here in similar situations have had a lot of great, wise words to say to guys in terms of flushing it and getting ready for Montreal.” Adarius Bowman on the pain of losing three games, two of them back to back to the arch rival Calgary Stampeders
“It hasn’t been good,’’ said head coach Scott Milanovich of the passing game, which should be the team’s identity given the marquee players who line up on offence and the financial commitments the franchise has made. “But I know what it is, I know what I think it will be. I don’t have any concerns with it. It has to be better, injury or no injury, than it was (on Labour Day). Scott Milanovich on the unusual passing problems facing Ricky Ray and the Argonauts
"I was thinking, 'this is the perfect time. I just want to make sure I'm there to make the play, so don't go offside,'". "As soon as the ball was hiked, I just tried to hurry up and get there." Weldon Brown on his blocked field goal attempt that went for a touch down
