- Bitzy the chihuahua is recovering after enduring five days in Alberta's Banff National Park without food, water or shelter.

Bitzy, who tips the scales at two pounds, was travelling with her human family in the park last week. When they pulled over to take a break between the Alberta and B.C. border Bitzy decided to go sightseeing, leaving her owners behind.
Her caretakers searched the area for hours, but could not find her.
Then, after five days, she was spotted in the wilderness of the Rocky Mountains by a park official.

Parks Canada staff respond to all sorts of requests. This little chihuahua jumped out of a car at a rest stop near the British Columbia border and survived five days alone on the Bath Creek flats until finally spotted. It took five people to catch Bitzy and the first food she ate was a tiny piece of fortune cookie with a very appropriate message. A staff member will take the little one home until she can be reunited with family.
"It took five people to catch Bitzy and the first food she ate was a tiny piece of fortune cookie with a very appropriate message," Parks Canada says on its Facebook page (the message, for those of you who can't read it in the image above, says: 'The bad is finally over. All the good stuff is waiting for you').
Bitzy has since been reunited with her family and, judging by a recent video uploaded to their Facebook page, she's up to her old tricks again:
