The report indicates that Henderson was recently diagnosed with Crohn's, and spent last Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles - for which he was inactive - in the hospital receiving treatment. He has, per Carucci, lost 20 pounds while dealing with severe intestinal pain.
Naturally, with an affliction like this, it's quite possible that Henderson will not play for the rest of the season. We also now know why head coach Rex Ryan hinted that the disease - which the team has called an "illness" for the last two-plus weeks - might affect him his whole career.As ESPN's Mike Rodak pointed out, former New England offensive lineman Matt Lightplayed with Crohn's disease, enjoying a very good 11-year career despite it. But Light played at significantly lower playing weights than Henderson does, and struggled to keep weight on during and after flare-ups. That is a challenge that Henderson and the Bills' training staff will likely endure as he attempts to continue his pro career, as well.
While Henderson has been out of the lineup, Jordan Mills has started at right tackle for the Bills.
